DATARECORDS
Datarecords, music label for improvised music, was founded by Dick Lucas in 1982. In 1995 DATA-Images was added for the release of DVD’s. The label and his site ceased to exist in 2019, due to Dicks’ passing away on November 4th, 2019.
During the final months Dick wrote an article for Jazz bulletin commemorating musician/composer Misha Mengelberg with whom he often collaborated.

In 1983 Dick worked with the ASKO ENSEMBLE on the reconstruction of Varèse’s Poème Électronique and Xenakis Concret PH. These works were performed during the 1958 World Exhibition in the Philips Pavilion designed by Le Corbusier. In 2017 Dick was interviewed about his collaboration with Iannis Xenakis in ’83. In 1986 the audio works of some of Dick’s students at the Rietveld Academy Amsterdam were released on a record album (LP). Each LP has a special designed cover by one of the students.
