JAAP FLIER, Solo
Documentary about the once legendary dancer in The Netherlands, Jaap Flier, who
now is in his eighties. He is one of the founders and artistic leaders of the
Nederlands Dans Theater and in the eighties the artistic leader of the School for
New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam.
The film – with Hans van Manen, Kenzo Kusuda and Boukje Schweigman – was
shown at the Holland Dance Festival and at the Cinedance Festival (together with
the short dance movie Miniatuur, choreographed and danced by Flier).

RUDOLF NUREYEV, A RUSSIAN IN THE POLDER
Shows the cooperation between dance legend Rudolf Nureyev and The Dutch
National Ballet due to recently uncovered film footage from 1968. Nureyev
rehearses Monument for a Dead Boy with choreographer Rudi van Dantzig and the
dancers of The National Ballet. Van Dantzig, Van Schayk, Van Manen, Alexandra
Radius and some other dancers comment on his dancing and personality.

Film about the unended Stravinsky version of Stravinsky’s Les Noces (Svadebka),
which is recently finished by Dutch composer Theo Verbey. It shows Stravinsky his
use of pianolas and how the ‘roles’ were made.

Portrait on clavicordplayer Gustav Leonard contains also interviews with other

MADAME (Mevrouw)
Documentary about Sonia Gaskell and the Dutch dance history. Choreographer Rudi
van Dantzig is followed on his search into her and his own dance life. With old film
footage and photographs, and statements of ex dancers about this first director of
The Dutch National Ballet.
The film premiered in the Music Theatre, Amsterdam and was shown on the

Documentary impression of the Eurovision Young Dancer Competition in London.
Rehearsals, the finals and interviews with ballet masters, coaches and the
participating dancers themselves show the high standards and devotion. The two
Dutch candidates are followed closely and become 3rd-prize winners with a
choreography by Ed Wubbe (Scapino).

Two short documentaries about the starting period of Dutch dance on television,

Monday Match
Dance & music impro lab, which took place every first monday of the month in the BIMhuis, Amsterdam.
The goal of the events was to encourage the exchange
between improvising dance and music performers from various fields. The lab offered young starting performers a chance to meet experienced professionals and to approach the public on an internationally renowned stage.
The Monday Matchwas co-initiated by Jacq. Algra.
The short documentary: Monday Match 101 gives an impression of the celebration of the special 101 edition after 10 seasons.
